1887 Heritage

A watch created together with Örgryte IS.

Founded in 1887, ÖIS carries one of the longest histories in Swedish football. For the 1887 Heritage, we wanted that history to become a natural part of the watch and its design.

The watch brings together elements from the club’s crest, colours and sporting history. From the pattern across the dial and the star-shaped details to the championship years around its edge, each element has been chosen to tell a part of the ÖIS story.

A story that began in 1887
Örgryte IS was founded in 1887, giving the club a history that stretches back to the very beginnings of Swedish football. For the 1887 Heritage, we wanted that history to become part of the watch itself. The design brings together details from the club’s crest, colours and sporting history, creating a watch closely connected to ÖIS and the identity that has followed the club through generations.

Details from the crest
The dial pattern takes inspiration from the shape and lines of the classic ÖIS crest, while the hour markers draw their form from the points of the star at its centre. Gold-toned hands add another reference to the club’s colours, with the ÖIS star appearing once again as the counterweight on the seconds hand – a small detail that ties the design back to one of the club’s most recognisable symbols.

History around the dial
Running along the outer edge of the dial are the words “ÄLDST I SVERIGE – FORTFARANDE HÄR”, together with the years of the club’s Swedish championship titles. Rather than placing the club’s history in one single detail, it becomes part of the entire dial – something that reveals itself the closer you look. The ÖIS crest is also engraved on the caseback, while 1887 appears on the clasp as a reference to where the story began. Each watch is individually numbered as part of a limited edition of 300 pieces.
